A straightforward process
How house clearance works in Newbury and West Berkshire
Good information at the start makes the estimate more useful and the clearance easier to arrange. Begin with the postcode and photographs; a person then confirms the final scope, price and date before anything is booked.
Start your estimate1. Tell us about the property
Share the postcode, property type, approximate amount to clear, your preferred timing and anything important about access. You can give a short answer and add detail later.
2. Send photographs
Wide photographs of every included room are best. Add garages, lofts, gardens, access routes and unusual items. You can upload several images with the estimate form.
3. Receive an estimated range
We review what you have supplied. Our estimating assistant may ask a small number of focused questions before an estimated range can be given. This is not yet a final quotation.
4. Arrange a quick call
A short call helps confirm priorities, access and timing. Larger, unusual or unclear jobs may need an in-person assessment before a price can be confirmed.
5. Confirm the scope and complete the clearance
Once the scope, price and arrangements are agreed, the clearance can be booked. Before removal begins, the included areas, anything that must remain, access route and expected handover condition should be clear to everyone involved.
Before the team arrives
If an executor, solicitor, estate agent or landlord is coordinating remotely, send the same written scope to the person providing access. You do not need to travel simply to repeat information that can be confirmed safely from photographs and a call.
- Remove or clearly label personal papers, photographs, jewellery, medicines and anything that must stay
- Confirm who can authorise decisions and how keys or property access will be provided
- Keep the loading route clear and tell us about parking, stairs, lifts, gates or restricted access
- Identify fridges, mattresses, paint, chemicals, gas cylinders, sharps or any other difficult waste
- Agree whether the property should be left empty or whether named fixtures, appliances or furniture remain
What happens on clearance day?
The agreed scope is checked against the property before removal starts. The team works through the included rooms and outside areas, keeping clearly identified retained items in place and using the agreed access and loading route.
If the contents or access differ materially from the information supplied, the effect on the work is discussed before extra clearance is undertaken. At the end, the agreed areas and handover condition can be checked with the authorised contact on site or remotely.
How long does a house clearance take?
The time cannot be judged responsibly from bedroom count alone. A small, straightforward clearance may take part of a day, while a full, heavily filled or awkward-access property can take one or more days. The volume and type of contents, stairs or lifts, parking, carrying distance, sorting requirements and any garages, lofts or outbuildings all affect the plan.
Send photographs of every included area and the access route so we can estimate the likely crew and time required. A person confirms the final scope, price and date before booking. If you are working towards a sale, tenancy, probate or key-handover deadline, include the date with your enquiry so availability can be checked rather than assumed.
